BOGALUSA, La. - Dec. 7 marked the 81st anniversary of Japan's "infamous" attack on the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. One Louisiana family finally received closure and was able to honor their loved one who died in the attack. The remains of Bogalusa, La., Seaman Houston Temples were laid to rest Wednesday. His remains were identified in 2021 and his body was returned home Dec. 6. Temples died while serving on the USS Oklahoma, which was sunk and 429 men on board were killed. Temples was eventually buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, also known as the Punchbowl in Hawaii. In 2021, his body was finally identified, and he arrived to Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans Dec. 6. His body was escorted to his hometown of Bogalusa.
