TRA passenger numbers up 22%

Passenger boarding at Tupelo Regional Airport hit a record high of 1,624 last month with Contour Airlines. For 2019, enplanements – paying passengers - reached 15,753, a 22 percent increase over the previous year. The paying passengers figure marked the third consecutive year that TRA reached at least 10,000 passengers. At 10,000, the airport receives $1M in Airport Improvement Program monies provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Aviation Administration. Below 10,000, the airport receives $150,000. AIP funds are only for capital improvements. TRA has met the 10,000-enplanement for the last three years. (Source: Daily Journal 01/14/20)
