Capt. Jeff Powell, Naval Construction Battalion Command Gulfport, Miss., commanding officer, was among speakers at last week’s Installation Commander’s Conference at which time Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves signed a proclamation recognizing April 2023 as Month of the Military Child. The proclamation also recognizes April 19 as “Purple Up for Military Kids Day” when communities are being encouraged to wear purple to thank military children for their service. (NCBC 01/18/23)
