Contractor seminar; NO geo meet

The Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute, a partnership between Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Community & Technical College System and the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, offers seminars and courses to small and emerging construction businesses that assist in building a solid foundation of knowledge within the construction industry. The next seminar will take place via Zoom from 6-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 27 to May 3The seminars provide technical knowledge essential to general contractors in order to sustain a construction business. Virtual 10-week courses are twice a week. When registration opens, apply at Fletcher Technical Community College and follow the steps to pay the $350 course fee. The New Orleans Geological Society will meet at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6 at Zea's, 110 Lake Drive, in Covington. Laura Sorey, a geology supervisor with the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources' injection and mining division, and Matt Aranyosi, manager of the engineering section, will be the guest speakers. They will discuss injection wells and the transition to carbon dioxide sequestration. Admission is $30 for society members and $35 for guests.
