LPD 28 sails away from Ingalls

PASCAGOULA, Miss. –The San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) departed from HII-Pascagoula’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division on July 11 enroute to its commissioning July 30 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It is named to honor the Florida city’s historic ties to the U.S. Navy, which date back to the 1830s and include an important naval training center during World War II.
