Huntsville clears Space HQ review

An Air Force environmental impact statement (EIS) review has found no problems with the Huntsville, Ala., site for a new U.S. Space Command HQ, which may clear a final official hurdle for the new command to move to Alabama, according to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) July 13. A public comment period will follow, during which Colorado officials may likely continue the fight to keep the command at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs. After the comment period, the Secretary of the Air Force will make the final base decision. The decision for Huntsville would move 1,800 HQ staff and families to Alabama and building a new HQ facility.
