More than 900 Mississippians have already signed a petition in support of restoring Amtrak service between New Orleans and Mobile with stops along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The petition was sent out Feb. 7. The Surface Transportation Board will hold a virtual, public hearing Feb. 15 where the petition will be presented and the board will hear testimonies. Following the hearing, the board will have an evidentiary hearing March 9, after which the board will make a final decision.
