CRs no way to run USA's defense

WASHINGTON – Overall FY 2023 federal government spending negotiations remain locked with Congress facing another short-term Continuing Resolution to keep the government operating, if there is no deal made. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), and House counterparts, have intensified conversations in the past weeks for an omnibus spending bill. Republicans presented a formal offer to Democrats on Feb. 2, but nothing happened., and now lawmakers anticipate the need to pass another CR to keep the government operating beyond Feb. 18, when a December CR measure expires.
