GTRA celebrates 50 years

COLUMBUS, Miss. - Fifty years ago, a group of people made a $2M investment to place an airport in Columbus. On Dec. 3, current business and government leaders gathered to celebrate the Golden Triangle Regional Airport’s anniversary. Today, GTRA is a $40M piece of property, and serves as a valuable resource for regional travelers. It gives access to anywhere in the world," says Executive Director Mike Hainsey. "It gives jobs to people at Airbus, Aurora Flight Sciences, (and) Stark Aerospace. "(W)e have so many other places we’re looking to go in the future,” Hainsey told WCBI. Depending on the landscape of COVID-19, GTRA will add additional services and larger airplanes, and is in discussions with Delta Airlines.
