Louisiana-based shipbuilder Metal Shark has introduced the 38 Defiant NXT, a next-generation welded-aluminum monohull pilothouse model, the 43-foot Fire Boat 2 to the Orange Beach (Ala.) Fire Rescue unit. Since 2011, more than 100 legacy model 38 Defiants have been delivered in a range of configurations to fire departments, law enforcement, Coast Guard and Navy, and multiple foreign militaries. In addition to the recent delivery, Metal Shark is currently building 38 Defiant NXT fireboats for the Chicago, South King County, Wash., and Miami-Dade fire rescue units.
