Mobile, Ala., will participate in an unusual celebration, of sorts, Oct. 10 with Carnival Cruise Line ahead of the final voyage of the Ecstasy cruise ship - and likely the last voyage from the Port City for a year. The city will fly banners. The Azalea Trail Maids will greet executives from Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines. Carnival’s exit means the city will be without an about $6M revenue source for the coming fiscal year. It might not sound like a reason to party, but Mobile officials are confident they can make up the financial void. Carnival Cruise Line has guaranteed it will return with a bigger and newer ship - the Carnival Spirit will launch from the downtown cruise terminal for its first voyage on Oct. 22, 2023.
