VICKSBURG, Miss. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) Vicksburg District has named Justin Giles as chief of the Water Management Section within the Hydraulics Branch. Giles's job will be to ensure the district’s water resources projects are operated within water control plans, and operates and maintains the district's satellite streamage network. He's also responsible for other water resources data collection, Corps Water Management System (CWMS) models for flood forecasting and inundation mapping, and computing the district's flood damages prevented and communicate with the public during emergencies and usual operations. Giles had served as the acting chief of Water Management Section and lead hydraulic engineer. He began his career with the Vicksburg District’s Dam and Levee Modeling Section in 2013. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master of Engineering degree from Mississippi State University. (Source: USACE 09/24/21)
