Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced a $55M initiative, called ReSkill Mississippi (ReSkillMS), to create workforce training programs at community colleges and offer monetary incentives to employers to hire those who have lost work due to the coronavirus. It’s designed to help ease the economic burden and uncertainty the coronavirus pandemic hon the state’s workforce. Most of the money will be used by community colleges to expand capacity in significant programs and to offer free short-term training. About $5M will be used for employers willing to hire and train individuals who have been furloughed, laid off, or economically hurt by the pandemic. Employers are eligible to be reimbursed for up to 75 percent of the individual's wages during training. The program requires a minimum fair wage threshold of $15/hour for employers to be eligible for reimbursements. (Source: The AP 08/08/20) https://www.cdispatch.com/news/article.asp?aid=82827
