The Navy accepted its next Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC), Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) 104 on June 9. Acceptance came after Acceptance Trials to test the craft’s readiness, capability and validate its requirements. Textron Systems (TXT) is in the process of producing LCACs 105–thru-116 at its New Orleans shipyardThe SSCs are replacing the LCAC-01 class. The Navy plans to buy up to 72 of the craft. In February, the Navy tested two SSCs interfacing with the USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) dock landing ship, the first time using a real ship, at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Panama City, Fla.
