Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp., the largest provider of dredging services in the U.S., announced this week the exercise of a contract option to build a second 346-foot, 6,500-cubic-yard-capacity trailing suction hopper dredge with Conrad Shipyard in Amelia, La. Expected delivery is to be in the first quarter of 2025. The new vessel will be a sister-ship to the Galveston Island, presently under construction at Conrad for delivery in early 2023.
