CG medevacs child from charter

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medically evacuated an 11-year-old boy from a charter fishing vessel on Oct. 14. The child was experiencing an allergic reaction about 23 miles south of Destin Pass in Florida. CG Sector Mobile, Ala., received a report over VHF-FM 16 shortly before 12 noon. A CG Aviation Training Center-Mobile MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was diverted from training to respond. Sector Mobile also coordinated the launch of a 45-foot response Boat-Medium boat crew from CG Station Destin. The ATC  helicopter crew arrived and hoisted the child and a parent. The crew transported them to CG Station Destin where the child was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services personnel in stable condition. (Source: Coast Guard New Orleans 10/14/21)
