WASHINGTON, D.C. - After taking delivery of the first Airbus Helicopters Inc.'s UH-72B Lakota helicopter last fall, the Army National Guard is finalizing its training and will begin fielding the Lakotas with numerous state Guard units, beginning with Arizona. Subsequent states to operate the new 5-bladed helo Colorado and New Mexico later in 2022, followed by additional NG units. The new variant "will help us provide the safest and most modern solution" to the NG's essential missions, said Mike Hadley, VP of the national guard. The UH-72B is the latest iteration of the Army’s Light Utility Helicopter (H145) since the first Lakota delivery in 2006.
