WASHINGTON, DC - The White House nominated two longtime Pentagon and think-tank women April 12 to run the Army and DoD’s Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE) office. If confirmed, they will play pivotal roles in the Pentagon’s modernization plans. Christine Wormuth would become the first woman to serve as Secretary of the Army. She is one of three civilian service secretaries to be nominated by President Biden. The vacancy at CAPE would be filled by Susanna Blume, where she is acting director. Blume previously served at DoD in the Obama administration and comes back from duty at the Center for a New American Security think-tank. She would be the second woman to lead the office, following Christine Fox who held the job from 2009-13. Wormuth also serve at DoD in the Obama administration and returns from duty with the Rand Corp.’s International Security and Defense Policy Center and running the Biden-Harris Defe se n Agency Review Team since January.
