MS #22 in hospital safety

In a fall report for Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, Mississippi ranked No. 22 in the nation for hospital safety. It was a four-place drop from a spring report, when 35 percent of hospitals earned top scores. Fewer than 30% of state hospitals (12) received an “A” grade. Eleven earned "B" scores; 17 received "C" grades; one got a "D", but none failed. Among some of the "A” grade hospitals were Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle, Greenwood Leflore Hospital, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, North Mississippi Medical Center – Tupelo, Ochsner Medical Center Hancock in Bay St. Louis, Singing River Ocean Springs and Singing River Pascagoula. The one hospital that received a “D” grade was Merit Health in Biloxi. Grades are assigned by an expert panel of physicians who evaluate hospitals based on process, structural and outcome measures.
