JSU alum helps launch telescope

JACKSON, Miss. - For most of us, looking through a telescope is for amateur star gazing, but Jackson State University alumnus Douglas Williams, 26, was in on the launching of the James Webb Space Telescope - the world’s most powerful that can peer back, with infrared eyes,13.5B years to the first light after the Big Bang. For the last three years, Williams has worked for Northop Grumman, an aerospace and defense technology company and prime contractor that developed the telescope. The telescope has taken 100M workhours of people’s lives to build.
