JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi Senate unanimously approved on Jan. 21 a $1,000 pay raise for all teachers. The bill is estimated to cost the state $51M. Senate Bill 2001 also would increase starting teacher pay to $37,000 and bring the minimum salary for assistant teachers to $15,000.
