IAI continues work on T-38 wings
JERUSALEM - Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) said Feb. 2 that it had won a $240M contract to manufacture wings for U.S. Air Force’s T-38 training aircraft. IAI has been producing the T-38 wings since 2011. The work will be performed in Israel, and expected to be completed by 2033. (Source: Reuters 02/02/20) The Air Force’s Advanced Pilot Trainer (T-X) will replace T-38C at existing pilot training bases at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas; Columbus AFB, Miss; Laughlin AFB, Texas; and Vance AFB, Okla. The first T-X aircraft is tentatively scheduled to arrive in 2022. Central Mississippi Note: Stark Aerospace is a North America affiliate of IAI. It was established in 2006 at the GTR Global Industrial Aerospace Park in Columbus, Miss. Stark’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Division produces the ArrowLite™ small UAS system, and supports the U.S. Army Hunter MQ-5B Unmanned Aerial Systems. The Sensors Division assembles and repairs Plug-In Optronic Payloads (POP), including variants of the POP300 (D, HD, I, LR) used on the Army RQ-7 Shadow UAS.
