Female Viper commander relieved
Air Force Capt. Zoe Kotnik, the first female pilot to
head the Air Combat Command’s F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, was relieved of
command Feb. 11 due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead, Col. Derek
O’Malley, 20th Fighter Wing commander, said in a statement. Kotnik was from her post after only two weeks.
O’Malley alluded to Kotnik making mistakes, but did not elaborate on exactly
what led to her being relieved of duty. He said he hoped Kotnik will continue
to serve the AF despite the incident. (Source: Fox
