Prouty takes command of 48th FTS
COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. - Lt. Col. Nelson Prouty took command of the 48th Flying Training Squadron on May 21 at Columbus Air Force Base. The 48th FTS conducts the tanker and airlift track of specialized undergraduate pilot training where students receive a minimum of 159 hours of flight instruction in the T-1A Jayhawk. Prouty was director of operations at the 14th Student Squadron prior to taking command of the 48th FTS. The 14th Student Squadron ranks as the largest squadron at Columbus AFB, consisting of 21 active duty and 82 civilian permanent party personnel as well as approximately 700 student pilots from 25 different nations.
