XO provides MH services to vets
WASHINGTON - Transitioning military service members and veterans can receive up to one year of mental health care from the Veterans Affairs (VA) Department after discharge from the service, according to an Executive Order (XO) signed Jan 10 by President Trump. The XO, "Supporting Our Veterans During Their Transition From Uniformed Service to Civilian Life," directs Defense, VA, and Homeland Security departments to develop a joint plan to ensure that 60 percent of new veterans that don't qualify for enrollment in health care - because of a lack of verified service connected medical-related issues - will receive treatment and access to mental health services for 12 months following their separation from service.
