Correx: MS deputy drowns in FL

A DeSoto County, Miss., sheriff’s deputy drowned July 22 in Walton County, Fla., near Sandestin, the local sheriff’s office reported. William K. Nichols, 33, who worked as a deputy sheriff in NW Mississippi was pulled from the water and identified, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported. Nichols reportedly had just saved his teenage son who was in distress. He was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico and EMS initiated CPR. He was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, where he was pronounced dead. Nichols was DeSoto County’s director of search and rescue.
