CAFB to fly salute over Miss.

COLUMBUS, Miss. - Columbus Air Force Base is gearing up to send a special message to healthcare workers over North and East Mississippi on May 8. A T-6, T-1, and T-38 aircraft, flown at the base for advanced jet training, will take to the skies, according to base commander, Col. Samantha Weeks. “The Department of Defense came up with it,” she told WCBI-TV. “We just want to recognize and thank all of our healthcare workers for their relentless efforts to make sure that we can care for our population as we fight this virus.” Weeks called the event an opportunity “to say thank you” as well as to showcase its mission and “heritage.” The event will start over the skies over Tupelo, and make their way to Amory, Aberdeen, West Point, Starkville, and finish off over Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle hospital in Columbus.
