Camp Shelby UAS site first of kind

The Department of Homeland Security unveiled its new $72M Common Unmanned Aircraft System Site - the only Unmanned Aircraft Regional Flight Center in the country – on Aug. 22 at Camp Shelby, Miss. During the grand opening, Camp Shelby’s Joint Forces Training Center, DHS’s Science and Technology Directorate, and Mississippi State University demonstrated how it tests and evaluates small UAS systems and operators. Acting DHS Undersecretary William Bryan said Camp Shelby had to meet rigorous criteria before it was accepted as the UAS site. "This is a great day for Mississippi," he said.
